Internet and Cell Service in Pine Mountain Club
This is one of the first questions I get from almost every buyer, especially those planning to work remotely from Pine Mountain Club: "How's the internet?" Let me give you the honest answer.
Internet Options
PMC has come a long way in recent years, but it's still not going to feel like living in a city. Your main options include:
- DSL: Available in parts of PMC through local providers. Speeds are modest but usable for basic work and streaming.
- Fixed wireless: Some providers offer fixed wireless service that can deliver better speeds than DSL, depending on your line of sight to their tower.
- Satellite (Starlink): This has been a game-changer for the mountain. Many PMC residents now use Starlink and report significantly better speeds and reliability than traditional options. If you're working from home, this is often the best bet.
- Cellular hotspot: Can work as a backup, but coverage varies by location and carrier (more on that below).
Cell Service
Cell coverage in Pine Mountain Club is spotty — I won't sugarcoat it. Verizon tends to have the best coverage in the area, but there are still dead zones, especially in canyons and heavily wooded lots. AT&T works in some spots, T-Mobile is hit or miss. I always recommend driving to a property with your phone and testing it before you buy.
Tips for Remote Workers
If you're planning to work from PMC full-time, here's what I recommend:
- Get Starlink installed as your primary connection
- Keep a cellular hotspot as backup
- Invest in a cell signal booster for your home (WeBoost makes good ones for rural areas)
- Have a plan for power outages — a battery backup for your router and modem is essential
The Village Area
The village area along Mil Potrero Highway tends to have slightly better connectivity than the more remote streets in PMC. If reliable internet is a must, I can help you focus your search in areas with the strongest service. Location within the community really does matter for this.
Connectivity keeps improving every year. Starlink especially has made mountain living viable for remote workers in a way it wasn't even three years ago. If this is a concern for you, let's talk about it during your home search — I know which spots work and which ones struggle.
