Trail Tips & Safety
Water for Horses
Bring adequate water for your horse on trail rides. The Equestrian Center has automatic waterers, but trail water sources are limited.
Wildlife Awareness
Expect bears, deer, and birds on the trails. Keep horses calm around wildlife and give animals space to move.
Check Conditions
National Forest trails may close during fire season. Check Los Padres National Forest alerts before heading out on longer rides.
Elevation Changes
Trails range from 5,000 to 8,800 ft. Allow horses to acclimate to altitude changes and pace accordingly on steep sections.
